Suzuki LS 800 Mobster
Year 2004. I've decided. I'm buying motorcycle at least 700ccm. At first, I wanted to have HD,
but the financial part quickly made me forgot about this option. For the money I had, I could
buy at most something as on the right picture - so motorcycle with a lot of ungenuine parts,
with unfinished electric, with some serious damage (broken frame, faex) and with a lot of so
called "inventions" - which - after seeing next and next used motorcycles - became for me almost
a synonym for "old used Harley - Davidson met in Poland".I saw a lot of motorcycles, but none of it catch my heart. Well, in this time I was still not sure what I'm looking for. I knew only, that it cannot be standard bike and it has to be chopper style. For sure I did not want a "beaueaueaueautiful" bikes, so nothing like Virago - it has to be simply "raw steel". |

In 2004 I was spending my holidays in small village near Przemyśl city. My friend, Gumiś,
was living in Rzeszów, not far away, so I decided to visit him.
Gumiś knew about my passion, besides he had checked for me another HD (which - as it showed up -
has only HD WLA engine, rest of it was another "invention" of guys with welder and too much free
time).And when I was in Rzeszów, Gumiś gave me several motorcycle newspapers and we started to look for ads. We found several interesting machines, we called sellers and we started to ride through city and entours. After looking at over ad dozen of bikes, I was almost decided to buy 1990 Kawasaki VN 1500 - photo on the left. I knew that this machine has several defects (rust, dents on tank, ugly rear fender, ugly plastic elements, finished tires), but 1,5 liter capacity - shut up and take! But the owner was not willing to negotiate the price, which was beyond my budget. Well, I could afford the bike, but not even for new tyres. After long and unsuccessful negotiations I gave up. Two days later owner called me and he said that he accepted our price, if we would pay the same day. I agreed and quickly went again to Rzeszów, visited the bank, took the cash, and then I called to make an appointment with the owner and... 15 minutes ago motorcycle was sold. And for the price lower that I willed to pay! Goddamit! |

But Gumiś said that he found another one. For the first look: doh, some puzzle-bike, Suzuki
Savage with modified frame and VZ 800 Marauder engine. Well, let's look at it.It was dark already. Owner said, that he changed his riding style to cross and he wanted to sell all of his choppers. He showed us the bike - well, nice chopper, V engine, several interesting additions, woodden grips... But the battery was dead and we were not able to check it. So we made next appointment on the next day. Gumiś warned me that I should be careful with such hybrid and bike should be checked carefuly. But the price was quite occasional. Well, the next day we met the owner, started the bike and... I was sure I'm buying it. Superb exhaust sound, none of bike I checked sounded this way, even HD (!). Yeah, I know - buying a bike because of good exhaust sound is like marrying a woman because she farts nicely. But I could not help it - I bought this bike with my heart, not mind and my heart was screaming "Take it! It's bike for you!" Short haggling and... Bike is mine :D |

And I gave the name "Mobster" to my bike ;) |
